  • Coach Brent Merritt is in his fourth season as head coach at Eastside Catholic with a record of 49-27. Prior to being at Eastside Catholic, Merritt spent time as an assistant at Garfield and Lakes High Schools, where he coached Jaylen Nowell (Garfield/Washington), Jermaine Kearse (Lakes/NY Jets), Tony Wroten Jr. (Garfield/NBA).
  • The Crusaders return 4 starters and 10 players from last year’s team that finished fifth at the Washington 3A state tournament. Their up-tempo style will feature a number of players, highlighted by the sophomore backcourt duo of Nolan Hickman and Shane Nowell.
  • Sophomore Jaylahn “JT” Tuimoloua is a load on the hardwood and the gridiron, where he is the top ranked football player in the country for the class of 2021. Already a two-time state champion in football, the defensive tackle already has offers from the nation’s most prestigious programs.
